Backroads and Bygones

2023 - Ongoing

Backroads and Bygones documents the objects, landscapes, and remnants amid the rural Southern United States. Raised between the ever-developing landscape of urban Northeast Texas and rural surroundings, I grew up navigating environments marked by southern decay - places where industry, agriculture, and domestic life leave behind subtle yet enduring traces.

From an early age, I learned to look closely at what is often overlooked: the quiet corners, peripheral objects, and moments suspended between use and abandonment. I have always been fascinated by these spaces and their anthropogenic impacts.

The landscapes I return to are scattered with abandoned structures, weathered materials, and remnants of human presence that exist in a constant state of transition. Slowly reclaimed by vegetation, erosion, and shifting light, these sites reveal the ongoing negotiation between human intervention and natural processes.
